Sula Malina, LMSW
Sula Malina (they/them/theirs) is a therapist at Greene Clinic and received their MSW in Advanced Clinical Social Work from Columbia University in 2021. Sula’s practice is centered around empathic listening, which asks clients how they would like to be heard.
Sula’s work centers clients as the expert of their own experience, and takes a strength-based approach as they accompany clients through the processes of growth and cultivating self-compassion and self-love. In their life and in their practice, they value collaboration and the power of community, and believe that the therapeutic relationship can be a site for personal growth. Sula works to create an environment with clients in which they can work through past experiences, identify goals for the future, develop coping mechanisms, and build self-reliance, all while learning to be gentle with themselves in the process.
Sula holds certifications in Motivational Interviewing and EFT & TFT tapping, and they aim to apply therapeutic approaches that best fit the needs of the clients they serve. Sula has specialized training and expertise in working with trans and non-binary identities, queer identities, polyamory and other forms of ENM (ethical non-monogamy), kink, BDSM, eating disorders within queer and trans communities, parents and caregivers of queer and trans youth, HIV/AIDS, and navigating gender transition in the medical industrial complex. Sula is available to meet with new clients seeking letters for upcoming gender-affirming procedures.
